Beaches Youth Hub
Pittwater youth mental health support services
home >
The Beaches Youth Hub is a community initiative created in 2018, due to a dire shortage of youth mental health support in the Pittwater area.
The hub is a collaboration of support services that offer free counselling, case management and individual support, mentoring, workshops, and events.
Our partners
Beaches Youth Hub is made possible by a collaboration of services to bring free youth mental health support to the Pittwater area. Services co-locate to Avalon, providing support to young people.
Our youth mental health services
We connect with the community by providing a space where everyone feels welcome and can access meaningful support. We aim to break down the stigma to help-seeking. These youth services are here for anyone aged 12-24 and their families.
History of Beaches Youth Hub
In 2017, Barrenjoey High School Principal, Ian Bowsher approached our CEO, Justene Gordon to ask for help for young people in Pittwater as they had suffered a series of youth crises over a three-year period that devastated the community. Publicly funded youth mental health services in the area were non-existent at the time.
The concept of The Avalon Youth Hub (now Beaches Youth Hub) was born, with the premise that individual organisations could not provide adequate services to the area, but together they could provide a safe space for youth in crisis and their families to seek help.
Burdekin is the lead agency; however work is shared across a number of organisations including Mission Australia, headspace, KYDS, SDECC, and funded by Northern Beaches Council.
