HomeSweet 2017 Charity Event

  Donate

We are delighted to say that the Link Housing Inaugral fundraiser Home Sweet 2017 was an amazing success. The event took place on Friday 15th September.

As a result of everyone’s hard work, we had more than fifty people sleep over at Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club in Dee Why, together we raised $120k for youth homelessness.

Link Housing and The Burdekin Association

We have been working together with Link Housing for more than 25 years. Together we have provided support and accommodation to more than 500 young people in need.

“We’re delighted with the funds raised, all of which go directly to The Burdekin Association so they can continue their vital work helping vulnerable young people on the Northern Beaches.”

Link Housing CEO, Andrew McNulty

Special Guest Christian Wilkins

We had model and homelessness activist Christian Wilkins as MC on the night. Christian had recently taken part in the SBS documentary Filthy Rich and Homeless, which consequently completely changed his outlook on homelessness.

Thank you

We want to thank everyone, because without a community coming together it couldn’t have been done.

Whether you volunteered, donated, slept over or raised awareness – you helped those experiencing homelessness. Special thanks to our MC Christian Wilkins, to Link Housing CEO, Andrew McNulty, to member for Wakehurst Brad Hazzard, to Bondi Life Guards Andrew Reidy and to Michael Regan, Mayor of Northern Beaches and James Griffin, Member for Manly.

We acknowledge the Aboriginal people of the Cadigal and Gayamaygal Clans. We acknowledge the Country on which we live, work, and gather as being Aboriginal land.

We acknowledge the lands, waterways and skies that are connected to Aboriginal people. We honour them and pay our deepest respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

We respect their rightful place within our communities, and we value their ancient cultural knowledge and practices.

We deeply respect that this will always be Aboriginal land and we will honour and follow the first peoples’ values in caring for the Country and for preserving their culture.

We deeply value that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are the oldest living culture in the world and we will continue to work with their peoples and communities to ensure their cultures endure and remain strong.
